Real or AI?

Learn How to Spot Deepfakes

Do you find yourself wondering if images of humans are real or AI-generated? I know I have had some WTF moments! I did a little research to help distinguish between reality and artifice. Especially in our ever-evolving world of deepfakes.

Here are a few tips to help you figure out if a human image is AI-generated:

Unnatural Hand Positions

Keep an eye out for distorted fingers or hands in bizarre, impossible poses.

Vacant Eyes

Look for eyes that appear soulless and eerie, often with proportions that seem off.

Overly Smooth Skin & Textures

Real humans come with warmth and imperfections. Excessive smoothness screams artificial.

Funky Artifacts

AI algorithms can sometimes produce repeated patterns or artifacts in images. Look for symmetrical or highly regular patterns that are unnatural.

Examine Fine Details

Scrutinize the image for fine details, such as inconsistencies in lighting, shadows, or reflections.

Trust Your Instincts

View images as a whole and rely on your common sense. Often, a combination of subtle details reveals AI generation.

In a world where AI continually advances in crafting convincing imagery, developing a critical eye is crucial. As we witness the relentless progression of artificial intelligence, honing our ability to distinguish between genuine and AI-generated visuals becomes an essential skill. Stay vigilant! Your critical eye today will be your guide in this fascinating, AI-infused future.
